2023Tahoe Quarterly Mountain Home Award.Read on to learn the details! First, the winning design project: Moxie Design Studio was charged with creating a ‘mountain-contemporary masterpiece’ for an active family at Clear Creek Tahoe, a secluded residential golf development nestled in the eastern Sierra Nevada mountain range.

The design challenge involved striking a harmonious balance between the functionality of a full-time residence and the ambience of a luxurious mountain retreat. According to principal designer Debbie Costa, the home had to be optimized both for everyday family activities and social entertaining, with open and flowing spaces that thoughtfully incorporated nature-inspired design elements to emphasize its surroundings. The design team's goal was to create a versatile space that suited the family’s active and social lifestyle, while elevating the home’s overall aesthetic well beyond the everyday.

Moxie Design Studio punctuated the overall design with a series of Hammerton light fixtures. Over the dining table, a sleek

Designer Debbie Costa notes, "Lighting is the jewelry of the home, so it's very important that it is cohesive throughout. We started with simple yet distinct light fixtures in the great room & kitchen and then used those as inspiration to illuminate the rest of the home."

In the main powder room, Hammerton
Axis pendantssuspended above the vanity “perfectly represent the mountain-style theme of the home, nodding to organic elements like ice and frost," explains Debbie.

In the main hallway, a

"Hammerton lighting beautifully complements the style of this home, and adds a unique dimension to its personality,” adds Debbie. “We also love that Hammerton uses energy efficient integrated LED lamping, as we try to maintain sustainability as a core value for all of our projects."
